What is bondage tape?

Bondage tape is an adhesive tape that is specifically intended for erotically restraining people. It looks amazingly similar to the usual adhesive tape, duct tape or gaffer tape from the hardware store. However, with one important difference: there is no adhesive layer. The tape made of thin plastic or PVC only sticks to itself due to the smooth surface. We know this effect from cling film.

Why do you use bondage tape?

Since the tape is adhesive-free, it is very suitable for use on the skin. It can be used for securing and restraining without irritating the skin or pulling out hair. It can also be used in conjunction with furniture, toys, and other objects. Even blindfolding or gagging by wrapping it around the head is possible. Bondage tape only sticks to itself, making it easy to remove.

Special bondage tape is particularly suitable for beginners.
Bondage tape looks like adhesive tape at first glance, but it is much easier to remove.

Bondage tape is often used as an alternative to ropes, cuffs, or handcuffs. Unlike ropes, it lies flat against the body, making it potentially more comfortable for the restrained person. Additionally, its archaic look adds a special allure. The tape is not a single-use product; if properly cleaned and rolled up after use, it can be reused multiple times.

What should I bear in mind?

Basically, all the rules that apply to other restraints also apply when using bondage tape. A restrained person should not be left alone. You should be careful about how tightly you wrap the tape. Particularly twisted tape can cut in unintentionally. Too tight or prolonged binding can cause numbness. On wet, sweaty skin, the tape can also slip.

Even though the tape can usually be easily removed, just have a pair of scissors ready to be on the safe side. In an emergency, you can free the tied person more quickly – but still carefully.

You should be particularly careful when using bondage tape for gagging or for breath play. Remember that the tape is completely impermeable to air. If you don’t specifically want to practice edge play, be sure to leave your nose free.
