For which systems is Deviance available?

Deviance is browser-based and works on all devices – from smartphones to desktops and tablets, and across browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. Its functionality is similar to a native app. You can even add it as an app icon on your home screen for easy access to your dating experience anytime.

Who created Deviance?

Kinksters from Munich, Germany, with a digital background. In addition, dedicated authors and developers from within the heart of the kink community, incorporating their extensive knowledge and experiences into every letter and line of code.

What does Deviance do with my data?

As a German GDPR-compliant company, we take the protection of your data very seriously. We only work with partners who comply with the rules of the European General Data Protection Regulation and only process your data in encrypted form and on our own servers in Germany. Apart from the data absolutely necessary for using the app, we do not store any of your usage data. When another profile is suggested to you, you have the option to choose from five actions: report, dislike, superlike, like, and boost profile.

What are the premium features?

Deviance offers basic functionalities like suggestions, matching, chatting, the feed, and soon a few more features currently in development to take your dating to the next level.

If you want a better experience on Deviance, five premium features are available with a subscription:

* Show your interest with Super-Likes
* Boost your profile to be shown to others more often
* Place and respond to ads, so you can impress not just with your profile but also with your words

What does Deviance cost?

The core functions of Deviance are generally free. These include partner suggestions, matching, contacting, the feed, and a few more features currently in development.

Additionally, there are five premium features that can be unlocked with a premium subscription:

If you want to upgrade your experience and increase your dating chances, three subscription levels are available: one month for €14.99 if you’d like to try it out first, three months for €34.99, and six months for €54.99. No matter which subscription you choose, every premium membership supports our project, the development of the app, and ultimately the destigmatization and education around BDSM.

How does the payment work?

If you want to subscribe to a premium plan, you’ll be redirected to our payment partner NetDebit. From there, you can manage your subscriptions with just a click in the menu under your profile picture, under “Account”. Whether it’s for a month, three months, or even half a year: Your subscription will automatically renew after the end of the term, unless you follow the steps mentioned above. Also, please note that the amount of €14.99, €34.99, or €54.99 will be debited all at once.

What is Deviance's stance on youth protection?

We take the youth protection very seriously. For this reason, our website is built to accommodate german youth protection filter programs, and we consciously refrain from using coarse or explicit language, images, or other media content.

Additionally, we are working on an age verification process for the app to prevent minors from using it.

Is Deviance available for interviews, press inquiries or other contributions?

Of course, we’d love to! We have plenty of stories to share. For example, what it’s like to found a BDSM startup as a young woman, why no bank wanted to give us an account at first, or even how our job ads were blocked. Or, how surprisingly large the BDSM community really is in society, and of course, everything related to dating.

By which criteria do you select the media and influencers for your recommendation articles?

The selection of the media listed in the recommendation articles (blogs, books, films, Instagram accounts, podcasts, music, etc.) is based on surveys that we conduct offline and online via various channels among people from the scene.

In the first step, we base our selection on the frequency of mentions. However, to ensure that the same 5-10 names don’t always appear, we curate internally in the second step to put together a good mix of national and international accounts, as well as established names and “insider tips”.
