What exactly are anal beads?

Anal beads are a sex toy that, similar to the classic love balls, consists of several beads or balls attached one behind the other on a chain that are continuously inserted through the anus into the rectum. Depending on the desired effect, they are removed slowly or quickly. Along with anal plugs, they are one of the most popular sex toys for anal stimulation and are usually used for additional stimulation during other sexual activities.

What types are there?

Anal beads are available in many shapes, lengths, materials and sizes. As a rule, they have a diameter between 15 and 25 mm, but there is no upper limit. For power players, diameters up to the size of a table tennis ball and even much larger are available on the market. They are usually made of silicone, plastic, rubber, latex, glass or metal and end with a ring or similar handle. On the one hand, this prevents the anal beads from getting stuck in the rectum and, on the other hand, makes it easier to pull them out.

The balls can either be flexibly connected so that they must be inserted individually, or they can have a semi-rigid, thin shaft that allows anal insertion in a single movement. Anal beads made of glass, metal or similar material are usually made of one piece, completely rigid and resemble a dildo. Some “beads” are also equipped with vibrators on the inside to increase the pleasure even more.

What do you use anal beads for?

Anal beads stimulate the many nerve endings of the sphincter during both insertion and removal. Many enjoy the feeling of the sphincter alternately stretching and closing as bead after bead disappears inside. In men, anal beads can also massage the prostate and in women they can increase pressure on the vagina.

Once inserted, they provide a feeling of pressure in the rectum, which many find pleasant. But you can also play with the balls, pull them out one by one and reinsert them. The anus can also be trained and prepared for larger anal plugs. It is particularly enjoyable when the balls are pulled out shortly before or during an orgasm.

What do I have to consider when using anal beads?

Since the balls are inserted anally, the intestines should be as empty as possible. You may be able to do an enema with an enema beforehand.

Immediately before playing with anal beads, you should moisten the chain itself and the area around the anus with a water-based lubricant, or even better, a special lubricant for anal play. However, be careful of lubricants that contain oil or silicone: These are not compatible with toys made of plastic or silicone. Alternatively, the balls can also be put into a condom, which is particularly recommended if they are shared with other partners.

When the anal beads are fully inserted, the loop at the end stops further penetration. You can also easily pull the anal chain out again using this loop. Anal beads are very stable but still soft enough not to jam inside the body or even cause pain.

After use, the beads should be washed thoroughly with soap, treated with toy cleaner and dried.

What do I have to consider when purchasing?

Good quality examples do not have a cord between the individual beads, but are self-contained and covered with silicone. This has a major hygienic advantage: body fluid could get into the interior of the ball through a cord and this “mud” could later get into the body, where it can lead to bacterial infections. Anal beads that are made entirely of silicone do not have this disadvantage.

As always, approach it slowly and start with smaller balls. Most users enjoy beads around 45mm in diameter, but some become more adventurous and try larger sizes as they gain experience. To try it out, you should definitely start smaller, for example with these.
